This is the modern Cortez operation that employs so many people today. It sits on the border of Eureka County. The old site of Cortez from the 1800's is back in the hills, right behind the modern mine. The company has not infringed on the relics of the ghost town. The modern mine sits out in the middle of Grass Valley and is surrounded by tons of history.
