A better history will be coming, but for now... This was an early 20th century camp that boomed for a period of years. There was a mine accident here that killed several miners. On the other side of the mountain to the west, there is a marker in the Tuscarora Cemetery (see that page) that pays tribute to those miners. May they Rest in Peace. While looking around, we ran into a rancher who was getting ready to turn cows out through here. He was an older gentleman. He told us that his dad had gone to school in Rio Tinto, which really dated how long his family had been in this region of Nevada.
