Walter's Ranch

Lander County

William Walters owned a ranching operation at this location. Walter's Station, which is located about a half mile south of here, was named after him. Walter's Station was a stop on the Nevada Central Railroad and operated here from 1880 to 1938. See the page for 'Walter's Station'. This area was the site of what was known as the "Austin Picnic Train". Individuals from Austin would travel here for weekend picnics and baseball games. I haven't been able to find much other history on these locations.

Last Trip/ Road Conditions: Both of these sites are located within close proximity to Highway 305. I've traveled past them for work more times than I can count. The photographs are from October 2015.
