Walter's Station
1/12
Lander County
William Walters owned a ranching operation about a half mile north of here. Walter's Station was a stop on the Nevada Central Railroad that operated here from 1880 to 1938. The station was named after Walters. See the page for 'Walter's Ranch'. This area was the site of what was known as the "Austin Picnic Train". Individuals from Austin would travel here for weekend picnics and baseball games. I haven't been able to find much other history on these locations.
Last Trip/ Road Conditions: Both of these sites are located within close proximity to Highway 305. I've traveled past them for work more times than I can count. The photographs are from October 2015.
